Easy 5 Minute Dollar Store Pumpkin Fall Wreath

I went into the dollar store for scouring pads and the next thing I know my shopping cart is bursting with craft supplies. Does that ever happen to you?

This easy five-minute dollar store pumpkin fall wreath practically made itself as a little bit of this and a little bit of that landed in my cart. The total cost for making this budget-friendly handmade wreath is under $6.

DIY Fall Pumpkin Wreath

The inspiration for the DIY fall wreath is the foam pumpkin. I must have arrived just as they stocked the shelves because there were so many different styles to choose from. I may have binged on pumpkins.

Some were turned into these painted dollar store pumpkins and others these French burlap decoupage pumpkins.

Green Florist Wire
Hot Glue Gun

I should note that the supplies were purchased at Dollarama, a Canadian dollar store chain. However, I have seen similar items at Dollar Tree.

Here's How To Make It

Simply wrap a roll of dollar store vine ribbon around the small willow wreath form and secure it with a dab of hot glue at the bottom.

Next, layer dollar store felt fall leaves onto the bottom of the wreath with dabs of hot glue. Note, I turned the leaves upside down to hide the, ahem, tacky veins.

With a serrated knife carefully slice a small styrofoam pumpkin in half. I used the other half of mine for a Jumbo Scrabble Tile Fall Banner. Secure it on top of the felt leaves with dabs of hot glue and florist wire on the back of the wreath like pictured below.

Next, glue a small tree branch on top of the pumpkin for the stem.

For the pumpkin tendrils wrap florist wire around a pencil, then loosen the curls, and stick the ends into the foam pumpkin.

That's all there is to it, I told you it was quick and easy! The wreath's small size is perfect to hang on a mirror or cabinet door.

  1. That's so cute Marie. Love all the lovely, warm colors you used too.

Mmmmmmmmmm, let's see what's in my cart? Lots and lots of Spring bulbs because my favorite season is just around the corner here in South Africa, Happy dance, whoot, whoot and stencils. Lordy the stencil bug has bitten big time over here. I'll just have to practise so I don't mess them up like I normally do ;-) Any tips my friend?

    1. I'm so envious that it's Spring where you are, especially because we didn't get a summer. Did you say stencils? So much fun playing with stencils and if I could offer two important tips - little paint on the brush and wipe the back of the stencil with baby wipes before doing pattern repeats. Happy stenciling!

    1. Right! Us DIYers never throw things out, do we, because we know someday there will be a purpose for it and we'll be grateful that we kept it.

  3. You bet that happens to me! I'm talking going in a store for one item & coming out with a loaded cart! I did that today at JoAnn's Fabrics. I walked every single aisle looking for one thing I needed, and you know what happened.
Love your wreath too BTW. In my life I need simple and easy.

    1. Hi Florence 😁 So glad I'm not the only one. Hope you found what you actually went in for at JoAnn's. Oftentimes I come out with everything BUT what I went in for. LOL
