Easy Peasy DIY Fall Wreath With Scrabble Tile Banner

Have you been following the 2015 Fall Ideas Tour this week? Thirty-two bloggers have come together to share Fall decorating inspiration and each day has a theme. A great big thanks to Angie from Postcards From The Ridge for organizing this annual tour. I'm so honored to be joining the Wreath leg of the tour today and sharing an easy peasy DIY Fall Wreath With Scrabble Tile Banner that is so quick to make.

Easy Peasy Fall Wreath With Banner

DIY Fall Wreath With Scrabble Tile Banner

This traditional wreath is so easy and quick to make with just a few supplies. With some Fall picks, ribbon, and faux maple leaves, you can whip it up in minutes, especially if you use real Scrabble game tiles for the mini banner. My banner has faux versions of the game tiles made slightly larger than the real thing and I share a detailed tutorial on how easy it is to make them further down in the post.

I've included links at the bottom of this post to the other seven Fall wreaths on the tour today. I've also included links to Monday's Fall Mantels and Tuesday's Fall Tablescapes if you missed them. Be sure to come back tomorrow for the DIY Thrifty Crafts leg of the tour and I've included links for those too.

These are the supplies I used to make my Fall picks wreath with a banner.

Supply List

Instructions for making the DIY Fall Wreath With Scrabble Tile Banner

Step 1 - Cover The Wreath Form With Fall ribbon

Wrap an entire roll of Fall plaid ribbon around the wreath form leaving a long tail on each end for a double bow.

Step 2 - Add Fall Faux Maple Leaves

If you're using Fall maple leaf picks, cut each individual leaf with stems from the picks and simply tuck them behind each fold of the ribbon and secure with a dab of hot glue. If you're using individual faux leaves, hot glue them over the ribbon folds.

Step 3 - Attach Fall Acorn Picks

Slip three or four Fall acorn picks behind the ribbon evenly around the wreath and add a dab of hot glue to hold in place. Sorry, I was so engrossed in the fun project that I forgot to take pictures of this process. You get a good idea of where I placed them in the picture below.

Step 4 - Tie A Double Bow

Make a double bow with the strands of plaid ribbon. I've included a bow making tutorial that I found on YouTube you may find helpful.

Step 5 - Embellish With A Cute Scarecrow Pick

Add a cute scarecrow pick or any other large Fall pick near or into the knot of your bow and secure it with hot glue.

Step 6 - How To Make Scrabble Tiles

I was sure I took pictures of how I made the Scrabble tiles but for the life of me can't find them. All I did was cut hardboard into 2-inch squares using a miter saw. You can use a straight edge and retractable utility knife to cut the board as well. The alternative is using real Scrabble game tiles and gluing them onto the twine.

Step 7 - Add The Letters And Numbers To The Tiles

Draw letters and their corresponding numbers with a pencil on the 2-inch hardboard tiles. If you're not confident in your printing skills you could try my Image Transfer Technique. Trace over them with a black Sharpie marker. I made a much larger DIY Jumbo Scrabble Tile Banner for our fireplace mantel.

Step 8 - Assemble The Mini Banner

Cut a strand of twine long enough to reach across your wreath with a little extra so the banner droops a little. Starting with the center tile and working your way outwards, hot glue your tiles onto the twine. Hang the banner from your wreath with hot glue and you're done!

It took less than an hour to make my wreath, including making the DIY faux scrabble tile banner. I hope I've inspired you to pick up some pretty Fall ribbon and a handful of picks to make your own version of my DIY Fall Wreath.

Here are some other wreath ideas that I've made for the annual Fall Ideas Tour. Like this traditional but bright Orange Sunflower Fall Wreath or this quick and easy Fake Burberry Scarf Fall Wreath where the scarf can be worn again after the season.
