Happy New Year friends! 🎉 Wasn't that the most anticipated New Year's Eve countdown EVER 🎉 - it couldn't happen fast enough. I hope you had a nice Christmas, despite travel restrictions and lockdowns. Just think how much we are going to appreciate being with family and friends during the 2021 holiday season.

At the end of every year, I like to take a trip down memory lane on the blog to see which projects resonated most with readers. But first I want to thank you for all the sweet comments and emails that I received throughout 2020. I have kept each and every one of them and your kindness and support mean the world to me. 💞

This year I've changed the list format a bit and included the🎄top two holiday projects of 2020.🎄 Because they are posted at the end of the year, they don't have a chance to gain enough traction to make the 12 Most Popular Posts list. We'll start with those and work our way down to the most popular DIY project of the year.

If you click on the titles they will take you to the original posts.

Homemade hand warmer gifts made with Mom's favorite jacket. As the typography on the front suggests, making them with fabric from a departed loved one's clothing is like a warm hug from them on a cold winter's day.

An easy and inexpensive homemade holiday game with recycled and dollar store finds. It's a fun, clean, wholesome game for everyone, young and old. A good game for breaking that awkward silence when not everyone knows each other at the party but also great for family members to learn something new about one another.

This furniture makeover started as an old boarding house desk with a broken top. Needing a small work table in my new office, the old top was removed and repurposed into other projects, and replaced with a larger DIY wood top.

These colorful garden art flowers used to be a Wilton tiered cupcake stand that I found at a thrift store. If you don't have a need to use them for their intended purpose, they are super easy to turn into metal flower art for a shady flower bed in the yard.

This large 36-inch square upholstered ottoman is a surprisingly easy furniture build plus it costs a fraction of what you'd pay for a readymade option this size.

For whatever reason, sometimes sanding pre-finished furniture before painting is not an option. I used my granddaughter's toddler bed makeover as an example of how you can paint without sanding for a lasting finish.

This drapery panel hemming technique is a game-changer and a popular tutorial on the blog. No tape measure required for this no-fail way to shorten drapery panels quickly and easily.

A super easy handmade heart-shaped door hanger with vintage charm for Valentine's Day. I have it hanging on the closet door in the bedroom year-round and it makes a pretty Christmas tree ornament too.

The most frequent overnight guests in our home are our two adorable grandchildren. The room we had them sleeping in was a makeshift bedroom that left little to be desired. For under $400 we gave the room a night and day transformation. Everything in this room makeover is either refinished, a DIY project, or budget-friendly purchases.

A budget-friendly accent wall that was completed in a day with a big impact in our dining room. The hardest part of this DIY project is calculating the number of battens and spaces required between them. So we wrote a tutorial on how to do it in two different ways.

This space-saving double floating desk was the best decision we could have made for our multi-purpose home office/craft room makeover. I think it is a popular DIY because it is the perfect small space solution for a double work station. Especially for couples working from home OR families with their children doing distance learning at home.

The most popular project this year was this modern farmhouse pedestal dining table makeover. Originally a golden oak color and painted white with a stained dark walnut top. Earlier this year it was transformed again with a white and grey-washed finish with water-based stains.
