Holiday Movie Night - An Evening With Ebenezer Scrooge

An Evening With Ebenezer Scrooge - A Holiday Movie Night Tradition

What is your all-time favorite Christmas movie? Mine is Scrooge starring Alastair Sim from 1951. An adaptation from Charles Dickens' book, A Christmas Carol, published in 1843. Did you know it was released on Halloween? Anyway, call me a traditionalist but it isn't the holidays until I’ve watched it.

Does your family have a Christmas movie tradition? We make it an annual event and fire up the popcorn maker, gather our favorite snacks, and change into our comfy PJs. Our evening with Ebenezer Scrooge is a late one because we make it a Scrooge marathon, watching several of our favorite versions.

Holiday Movie Night Apparel

If you are like us and enjoy many movie nights during the holidays, here's some fun cozy comforts for the occasion. I love my Santa blankie to snuggle up in. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a link to one just like it but the one below is pretty darn cute too. Can you see a red and black buffalo check theme happening here?

If you're wondering about the movie-themed wall decor, I couldn't find links to the exact items pictured below as we've had them for many years. However, I did find lots of fun movie decorations for home theatres. I'll be ordering some of these great ideas to add to our media room walls too!

Cheers to a fun holiday movie night!

    1. We bought it when the kids were still at home and would often have friends over for movie nights. The two of us use it regularly during the winter months when we're hibernating indoors.

  6. Love this movie and I think the 1951 version really is the best. My kids were in a theater production of this show years ago, too, so it holds a special place in my heart. We have it on video so we watch is a Christmas classic!!

    1. You and I are kindred spirits - so much in common! This is always my go-to version to watch first. But I also really like the Jim Carrey version too - it's very well done.

  7. We have lots of family movie nights throughout the whole Christmas season and when the boys were younger I used to make themed snacks to go with each movie. Now we tend to just eat our favorite snacks in front of the fire by the light of the tree and just enjoy the time together.

    1. I love that your family also has a Christmas Carol movie night. I have to admit that I haven't seen the 1970 version but I've added it to my must watch list for this holiday season. My favourite is the 1951 version with Alistair Sim because its the one my family watched when I was a child. Enjoy your holiday movie night and Merry Christmas!
