High Heel DIY Stocking And Stocking Stuffer Ideas

About the high heel stocking

I made several high heel stockings for gifts several years ago, in my pre-blogging days, and they were such a hit. I should point out that I am self-taught behind the sewing machine and in no way a pro by any stretch of the imagination. To make these you need to be able to sew a straight line and understand some sewing terms but the pattern I used is very easy to understand and follow.

The pattern is called a Brangway Stocking but there are several different styles to choose from. You can find them online here at Sewing Patterns by Arkathwyn Designs (not an affiliate link). She provides easy to follow instructions and the pattern in PDF format.

Don't forget the mandarin orange!

Did you find an orange in the toe of your stocking Christmas morning when you were a child?

Do you know why this tradition began? If not, grab yourself a coffee and google it for a fun morning read.

I assumed it was my Mom's way of tiding us over until breakfast and buying her more time to sleep because it wasn't uncommon for one of us seven kids to wake up at 4:30 am and wake the others.
