Guest Room Tweak {Room Makeover}

Greetings from a chilly Fall afternoon. In my Office Got a Tweak post I mentioned how we had three room makeovers going on at the moment. Well after I removed the custom drawer unit from the guest room and put it into my office, it left quite a void. So the mad dash began to makeover a few furniture pieces for this room. You can see those in From Curb to Fran├žais, 4-Drawer Dresser to Faux Secretary, and Antique Balloon Back Chair.

After all the new pieces were in place it still didn't feel ahhhhhhhh! Until the weekend that is when we painted a feature wall with Behr paint in Iced Expresso. While Mr. Frugalista was painting I was nailing tacks into the headboard to give it a more finished look.

This is a closer look at the room before moving that awesome custom desk unit that was sitting empty into better use in my office. Mr. Frugalista and I made the upholstered headboard last winter.

Here is a close up of the headboard after I put some decorative tacks into it - much better!

Doesn't the wall look so much better painted in Iced Espresso? Much better contrast with the headboard and furniture now. I also picked up that pretty glass lamp in the clearance rack at Homesense for just under $40.00!

I had made the bolster a few years ago for another room but it was a fail and sat in a bin in our storage room ever since. I came across some pretty ribbon I bought last year which was also stored in a bin. Fifteen minutes at the sewing machine and voila - perfect for the guest room!

I was lacking art for above the French Graphic Table and remembered I had two gold frames in a bin (my storage room is treasure trove of goodies) and I had leftover fabric from the Balloon Back Chair makeover. Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ in Old white and an hour later I had some free artwork!

I hope our guests will feel welcome and comfortable in the little room we prepared for them.

Now it's time to play with some pallets, chalk paint, spray paint, and candle sconces (final room makeover to be revealed soon).
