Milk Paint Pain Management

Yes, you read the title right!

You know refinishing furniture is your passion when you use milk paint for pain management...and it worked! I've had the chills, fever, aches, yadda yadda since the weekend. I got sick of moping around the house feeling sorry for myself and figured perhaps getting lost in some milk paint might help forget my misery.
Box Store Table painted with milk paint

I bought this inexpensive table at a box store because it fit our budget at the time and I liked that it had a drawer to house the TV remote and a nice little shelf on the bottom.  I loved the function of the table but thought it looked kind of cheap.

Because this table was finished in a dark stain, I gave the entire table a coat of shellac to avoid any stain bleed.  I used Miss Mustard Seed's™ Milk Paint and added some Bonding Agent to the paint to ensure good adhesion.  I painted it with Lucketts Green and Ironstone White.  Once dry I gave it a little distressing with fine sandpaper to reveal some of the dark red stain underneath.  Then I gave it a coat of Miss Mustard Seed's ™ Furniture Wax and Antiquing Wax.

I added a pretty glass knob and voila - she has some personality and ain't looking so cheap anymore!
